Michelle’s having a ball in aid of Mind

Local environmental services company, Veolia Environmental Services, is hosting a charity ball this Friday to raise money for mental health charity Mind.

The event which is being held, Friday 20 January at the Hilt venue located in Hiltingbury, Chandlers Ford, is set to be a fun filled night of food, entertainment and dancing thanks to the organisation of Michelle Cross, Support Officer at Veolia.

Event tickets have sold extremely well and everyone attending is pleased to be able to show their support for such a fantastic charity. All proceeds from the event will be in aid of Mind.

Veolia’s fundraising champion in Hampshire, Michelle Cross commented,

“I was really pleased to hear that Mind was picked as our charity of the year for 2011 and 2012. As the leading mental health charity in England, they help around 250,000 people a year through their local and national networks. With one in four people likely to experience a mental health problem every year it is critical that Mind receives support to raise awareness and promote good mental health for the benefit of all members of society.”

Michelle has already organised events to raise money for Mind including; a sponsored ‘wear your pyjamas to netball’ session with a local netball team back in 2011, a music gig and various quizzes and competitions. Other Veolia employees from around the UK have also organised charity events and to date Veolia ES has raised £80,000 in total to help support Mind’s work.

Stephen Fry, Mind’s President said: "It's really great to hear about Veolia Environmental Services' tremendous support for Mind in 2011. Well done to all the staff who have been involved in the partnership through volunteering and fundraising. Your support enables this wonderful charity to continue its vital work to help anyone who experiences a mental health problem.”
