Residents will be able to purchase clear sacks from Monday 23 April at a cost of £1.20 per sack. A minimum of 10 and a maximum of 100 sacks can be ordered by calling the Veolia Environmental Services Call Centre on: 0114 273 4567.
The sacks can be filled with leaves, hedge and plant clippings, twigs, small branches, prunings, grass mowings, weeds and cut flowers. Garden waste collected in Sheffield is sent to composting sites across the city and made into high grade compost
Residents must contact Veolia when their clear sacks are full to arrange a collection on: 0114 273 4567 or visit: www.veolia.co.uk/sheffield to fill in the online request form. A minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 clear sacks can be left out per collection and the sacks will be collected within 10 working days of receipt of the request.
Only garden waste contained in the clear sacks purchased from Veolia will be collected. Any other sacks or extra waste will not be taken. Sacks purchased in 2012 are for use in 2012 only so residents should not over order sacks.
The introduction of a chargeable clear sack collection service will mean that only those residents who wish to use the service will be required to pay. Residents with gardens who do not want to pay for a collection service will be able to dispose of their garden waste for free at any of the five Household Waste Recycling Centres located across the city or by home composting.
