Next week, Veolia’s recycling experts will be on hand to give residents the chance to find out more, whilst entering into a free competition to win some exciting prizes, including a range of compost bins and water butts!
Recycling Roadshows:
• Monday 20th June – Sainsbury’s, Archer Road (10am - 3pm)
• Wednesday 22nd June - Fargate (10am - 3pm)
• Saturday 25th June – The Moor (10am - 3pm)
• Sunday 26th June - Firth Park Festival (1pm - 6pm)
Alongside answering any queries on the green sack recycling service, the experts will also be demonstrating how to recycle garden waste at home through composting. The composting demonstrations will be given by ‘Simon the Scarecrow’ as he shows residents just how to make the most out of their garden waste.
Simon (the Scarecrow) Heathcote, recycling assistant at Veolia Environmental Services in Sheffield comments: “Approximately 20% of the average household's rubbish is made up of green garden waste. If this waste ends up in the black bin, a valuable resource that could be turned into compost is wasted. We’re going to be out and about during Recycle Week to promote the benefits of recycling that green garden waste and to keep gardens across the city looking beautiful.”
Residents in those areas of the city that do not have a green bin should look out for leaflets that will drop through letterboxes across Sheffield over the next three weeks. The leaflets provide more information about the green sack changes, together with a calendar of collection dates.
