Our state-of-the-art Hollingdean Materials Recovery Facility sorts and bulks household waste from East Sussex and Brighton and Hove.

Then it’s transported onwards to recycling, recovery and disposal facilities. Hollingdean Material Recovery Facility is part of a network of strategically placed facilities designed to increase recycling and recovery in East Sussex and Brighton and Hove. Brighton and Hove generates about 120,000 tonnes of household waste each year; our Material Recovery Facility and Waste Transfer Station facilities in Hollingdean cover a throughput of 160,000 tonnes a year to cope with this.
