Advent Day 10

Choose what you use carefully.

In the UK we use 227,000 miles of wrapping paper and around 1 billion, that's right, 1 BILLION cards are sent and received over the festive period every year.

The good news is that lots of cards and wrapping paper can be recycled and if you choose your cards and paper wisely then you will make it much easier for friends and family to recycle them.

Whilst cards can be recycled, we need to make sure that any sections of glitter and sparkles are torn off.  Choosing cards without the sparkles won’t make them any less thoughtful but a whole lot easier to recycle.

Lots of wrapping paper can be recycled too, but make sure that you do the scrunch test first.  If the paper stays in a ball, then it can be recycled, if it springs back then sadly it can’t as it may contain plastic or foil.  Our top tip is to steer clear of foil wrapping paper as that definitely won’t stay scrunched up.
