New website for bulky waste collections

Unsure how to get rid of that old three piece suite taking up room in your home? Got a new fridge but unable to get the old one down to the local tip? Well now it is easier than ever to rid yourself of unwanted bulky items as the council’s bulky waste portal is now live. Arranging for a bulky waste collection is now easier than ever through the new online bulky waste collection portal that allows residents to book online collection for up to five large items to be collected directly from your home.

Veolia, working in partnership with the council, has recently launched the new online portal where residents can book a collection by simply entering their details and choosing a collection date. The service costs £7.92 for the first individual bulky item and £5.28 for any additional item.

Cllr Carole Mulroney, cabinet member for environment and planning, said: “Removing large items and furniture from your home can often prove problematic. The council has provided  bulky waste collection for some time now but we are pleased to now be able to offer a quick and simple online service that makes booking these collections straightforward.

“In just a few clicks and by entering some basic details, you can order a collection date and time that suits you. The portal is now live and I hope many residents will be able to benefit from this improved service.”

Pascal Hauret, Managing Director for Veolia, said: “We continue to make life easier for residents in Southend-on-Sea by launching this new bulky waste collection online portal. In just a few clicks, you will be able to book a collection and we will pick up your large items directly from your doorstep. Alternatively, you can take them to one of our two Household Waste Recycling Centre at Stock Road or Leigh Marshes.”
