Reducing Waste

To be successful at reducing how much waste we create and send to landfill, or to increase recycling it is vital that everyone understands the consequences of creating and managing waste.

At the same time people need to know how to take action to be more environmentally friendly. Working in partnership with West Berkshire Council and other organisations in the district we run lots of initiatives to let householders know the facts about waste.

Every year in the UK we throw away 7.2 million tonnes of food. Whilst some of the food we throw away is peelings, bones and cores, the majority is, or once was perfectly good food.
Learn more about the many benefits using real nappies can have and for information on our free real nappy events held at Children's Centres across the district.
Compost produced at home benefits your garden, adding nutrients, improving soil structure, maintaining moisture levels and keeping your soil's pH balance in check.
