Back in 2011 we indicated that we would be working towards closure of Highmoor landfill, and made commitment to complete landfilling by 2017.
A number of factors including increased recycling rates and the economic downturn have led to a reduction in the amount of waste generated locally and nationally which means there is less waste coming to landfill sites. As a result of these factors we closed Highmoor to household and commercial waste on 31st December 2013.
