In December 2024, Veolia UK received their Sustainability Scorecard from EcoVadis, the globally trusted provider of business sustainability ratings and we’re proud to announce that we’ve been awarded Silver, marking a significant leap in our sustainability journey.
Ecovadis is a globally recognised assessment platform that rates businesses’ sustainability efforts, with a network of over 150,000 rated companies. The assessment evaluates how well a company has embedded sustainability principles across all their activities and management systems.
The Sustainability Scorecard rates performance across four key themes:
- Environment
- Labour and Human Rights
- Ethics
- Sustainable Procurement
Each of these categories is assessed using the Ecovadis scoring methodology looking at several indicators, including policies, certifications and reporting.
Achieving Silver
During 2024 we focused on strengthening our Scope 3 monitoring and energy and carbon reporting. With enhanced Diversity and Inclusion reporting we also showcased continued progress and by utilising the outputs of recently implemented supply chain management software we improved our overall reporting on the social and environmental impacts of our supply chain. Thanks to the coordinated efforts across our varied business functions, including HR, IT, Training & Development and many more, we secured our Silver award in December 2024.
With an overall score of 72 out of 100, this places us within the top 7% of businesses assessed by Ecovadis around the world.
Whilst we’ve made progress across all four themes within the assessment, we’re particularly proud of our environmental score, achieving an average of 90 out of a possible 100 across our water, waste and energy services, such as our:
- Practices to recycle or reuse water,
- Recovery of waste byproducts to produce raw materials,
- Purchase and/or generation of renewable energy.

Thanks to EcoVadis' robust assessment, comprehensive report and invaluable insights, we're committed to using our silver award to identify areas for even further improvement.
