Our activities are backed by the work of The Veolia Environmental Trust, which fund community, environmental and restoration projects near our facilities.
Grants are awarded under the Landfill Communities Fund, through regional panels of local authority and environmental interest groups.
The Veolia Environmental Trust
The Veolia Environmental Trust supports a wide range of community and environmental initiatives. Since the Trust was established in 1997 the trust has contributed over £55m to projects that enhance the sustainability of local communities.
Some highlights include:
In December 2011 the Trust celebrated reaching the milestone of having donated £10 million to over 300 community and environmental projects in its Southern region. The milestone was celebrated at a special ceremony held at the new HQ of the 14th Andover (Stockbridge District) Scouts.
A contribution of £35,000 for the building of a new multi-use games area in Tacolneston (Norfolk). The recreation ground is now available all year round to people of every age, and is accessible to people with disabilities.
In Sheffield, a £88,000 grant permitted the construction of the Ecclesall Woods Visitor Centre designed to be used for events, education and training courses promoting woodlands and the many uses of wood. Its green features include natural ventilation and lighting and a heating boiler fuelled by waste wood.
