What is hazardous waste and how can we help you to dispose of it?
Hazardous waste covers a wide variety of waste types that can cause environmental or human harm. This covers waste such as acidic and alkaline materials, solvents, liquid waste, batteries, adhesives, effluents, and low-level radioactive materials. This also covers synthetic chemicals such as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) and PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls).
Our hazardous waste management services give you access to the latest technologies for secure destruction. The Veolia Ellesmere Port facility offers the highest level of secure destruction to some of the most hazardous wastes. Our high-temperature incinerator (EP HTI) is one of the most technically advanced in Europe and is designed to treat hazardous, non-hazardous, low-level radioactive, and clinical waste materials. The facility also has ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO 45001:2018, and ISO22301 accreditation ensuring your hazardous waste is collected, treated, and disposed of safely and efficiently.

Are you compliant with the upcoming PFAS regulations?
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are man-made chemicals that are used in a wide variety of applications, from textiles and non-stick kitchenware to firefighting foam and industrial applications. They are persistent in our environment, and can cause widespread contamination of water and soil.
To try and combat the problem, the UK Government is introducing a series of regulatory measures to restrict the use of a particular PFAS known as AFFF (containing PFAS and PFOA) used in fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems is being banned from 4th July 2025.
Our Ellesmere Port HTI is approved by the Environment Agency to incinerate PFAS including liquid AFFF at the required temperatures of above 1100°C. With an annual capacity of 2,000 - 3,000 tonnes due to the specific control required, Ellesmere Port is playing a crucial role in addressing the estimated 10,000+ tonnes of AFFF applications requiring disposal across the UK.
Contact our team of hazardous waste experts to ensure you remain compliant and dispose of all AFFF before the ban.

Safety at the Forefront
We are a Top Tier COMAH site, this ensures we keep you and everyone on site safe, by taking all the necessary measures to prevent major accidents involving dangerous substances.
Innovative Technology
The facility includes the very latest solutions in incineration and gas-cleaning technology, coupled with sophisticated monitoring, control, and operating systems, that ensures peace of mind.
Efficient Disposal
Maximum-efficiency, minimum-impact HTI is the best overall environmental option for the clean and complete disposal of hazardous waste streams that can’t be sustainably recovered or recycled elsewhere.
Guaranteed Compliance
We are committed to safety and compliance, meaning you are leaving your hazardous waste in the most capable and responsible hands.
