Veolia supports Armed Forces through Corporate Covenant

The UK’s leading resource management company, Veolia, has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to our Armed Forces by signing the Corporate Covenant. By upholding the covenant the company recognises those who perform military duty and the value of their contribution.

The signing ceremony which took place at Tidworth Garrison, Hampshire on Thursday 3 December was undertaken by Major General Alastair Dickinson and Veolia’s Executive Director, Robert Hunt along with two serving members of the water team, RAF reservists Louisa Hoyes and Lisa McKenzie and ex- RAF serviceman Jim Griffiths.
 
As a longstanding employer for many ex-servicemen and women, Veolia has benefited from the skills that, reservists, veterans and military families can bring to the business. Under the agreement Veolia will provide a wide range of additional support by developing a mutually beneficial strategic relationship which promotes that they are an armed forces-friendly organisation.
 
Included in the agreement is the appointment of an Armed Forces Champion within Veolia UK who will promote the employment of service leavers and veterans, and work with employees who are members of the Reserve Forces and those who work with Cadet Forces. The company will also help the careers of service spouses and partners and provide flexibility in granting leave for service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment.
 
Working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) Veolia will offer employment opportunities for regular and Reserve Forces and will also seek to enable serving members of the Regular or Reserve Forces to gain practical experience of water, energy management, or waste operations, relevant to their deployable roles. These typically include mechanical and electrical skills, water treatment and combined heat and power.
