Materials Recovery Facilities (MRF)

As recycling volumes increase we help Local Authorities to find progressive ways to handle recovered materials, minimising contamination and finding a competitive market for recyclates.

Materials recovery is a key element in many of our Local Authority contracts.  Our experience shows householders are more likely to recycle where authorities provide a co-mingled collection with recyclables separated and sorted before reprocessing.

We use advanced separation technology as well as manual separation to recover paper and card, drinks cans and steel cans, aluminium, glass, plastic and wood, supplying high-quality material so manufacturers can use it to make recycled products.

We currently operate nine municipal Materials Recovery Facilities in different UK contracts and have others in the planning stages.  Together these will process in excess of 500,000 tonnes of materials recovered across the UK each year.
