ICM (Institute of Credit Management) selects Veolia
The ICM (Institute of Credit Management) has selected Veolia Environmental Services as a partner to launch its first Centre of Excellence as part of its Credit Academy scheme.
The Centre of Excellence will be officially launched at our new state-of-the-art offices in Cannock, Staffordshire, later this year. It will offer credit professionals the first real opportunity to experience high quality learning and best practice together, in a real working environment.
Veolia was chosen as the first Centre of Excellence due to its proven track record in the delivery of ICM qualifications and excellence in working practice, which was highlighted in it achieving QiCM status in 2010.The first Centre will also be supported by Experian, who will be providing sponsorship and learning tools, study guides and web based master classes on credit risk.
Debbie Tuckwood, ICM Head of Education, believes that this is a great stride forward for students in the credit world: “This is a great chance for anyone who wants a credit qualification with excellent tuition, plus the extra opportunity to see how the credit world is run through working practices. This is a first for the credit industry.
“Veolia and Experian should be applauded for their support in this significant development. They share our vision in linking learning to best commercial practices,” she adds.
Brian Morgan, Credit Manager at Veolia Environmental Services, feels that being the first Centre of Excellence is a great honour for the credit team he works with: “The team is delighted to be the first Centre of Excellence in partnership with the ICM and we will aim to set a standard for others to follow,” he says.
“It’s a real testament of what has been achieved here in recent years here. Not only will it benefit learners, but also our staff, local businesses and the credit community as a whole. There will be a real sharing of knowledge and experience from different sectors and working practices which should be a real catalyst for career development.”
It is seen that Veolia will be the first of many centres, however the status is only open to companies with QiCM accreditation. The Centre of Excellence status will give participating businesses and sponsors the opportunity to take the lead in a commercial environment and share credit management skills with organisations locally, nationally and internationally.
