Trial holes scheduled to accurately locate existing utility cables and pipes
The trial holes are needed to accurately locate existing utility cables and pipes under the road before the main is laid across the road in August.The crossing of the road will be made near the Marsh Academy and the children's playground adjacent to the NHS clinic.
Work will be carried out in the school holidays between 2 April and 13 April so as to avoid any disruption for the Marsh Academy.During the Easter holiday period, from Good Friday to Easter Monday inclusive, work will be suspended.
Veolia Water Southeast Capital Delivery Manager Justin Southwell said: "There will be some noise as the trial holes are excavated and there will be single carriageway working in Station Road with temporary traffic lights. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and we will ensure that work is completed as soon as possible."
Construction of the £5m Denge to St Mary's Bay main will begin in the early summer. The 9 km new main will replace an older pipeline which has been assessed as having a high risk of bursts and completion will ensure greater security of supply for the Romney Marsh area.
