Veolia team to debut their Christmas singing talents to residents for Mind
In true festive spirit a team of bin men from Veolia Environmental Services will debut their Christmas singing talents to residents throughout December. This joyful choir will be swapping their overalls for Santa suits and all things Christmassy to raise money for Mind, the leading mental health charity in England and Wales.
The choir will be performing a series of green Christmas songs in a Santa’s grotto made of recycled unwanted goods brought to the site, to encourage residents to think more about their waste at this time of year. The set list ranges from ‘O come all ye wasteful’ to ‘We wish you a recycling Christmas’ and not forgetting ‘O Compost Heap.’
The group is formed of six workers at the local Hove Veolia Household Waste Recycling Site (HWRS). The team’s enthusiasm for raising money for charity has seen them dress in pink for Breast Cancer Campaign. However this is the first time they have come together to sing Christmas carols.
Martin Benson, Site Manager for the Veolia Environmental Services’ Hove HWRS said: “We don’t want our residents to be bah humbug about their waste over the festive season so we hope our green Christmas carol’s can encourage more to reuse and recycle wherever possible. We hope residents will come and hear us perform and help us raise vital funds for Mind our company charity of the year.”
Mind Director of Fundraising Kathleen Miles said: "We're hugely grateful for this fantastically festive fundraiser from the Veolia Environmental Services team in Hove. It's a wonderful way to spread Christmas cheer and to boost donations for Mind's work providing support for anyone who experiences a mental health problem."
The choir will be performing every Friday from 12.00 – 13.00 and 14.00 – 15.00 throughout December at the Hove HRWS, Old Shoreham Road, Hove, BN3 3TW.
